Rich Field Resident Alert!

As most of your know, the BIG SWITCH last month was an unprecedented attempt at bringing all television stations into compliance with FCC regulations regarding digital broadcasting. Wow!

If you were like us, you had to adjust your home electronics to accommodate the change. Many homeowners in the neighborhood have considered or are in the process of switching to satellite TV.

This is a great option, but it is IMPORTANT to remember that the restrictive covenants governing our neighborhood specifically address the location of home satellite dishes and external antennas:

Article V, Section 5. 12 of the covenants states, “All outside radio and TV antennas shall be installed in such a way as to be non-visible from the main road and where possible it should be placed on the back side of the chimney; otherwise they must be placed on the back side of the roof. All satellite dishes must be in the rear yard and screened from view.”

If you are among those making the switch to satellite TV, please make sure that your dish is installed in accordance with the Rich Field Protective Covenants. The covenants are in place to preserve the value of your homes and the integrity of our neighborhood. As your elected board, we are committed to upholding those values and charged with enforcing the covenants, and that includes the placement of satellite dishes.

Your satellite dish installer will understand the neighborhood requirements when you explain them. However, if you have already installed a satellite dish without considering the covenants, and you find that the installation is in violation of the covenants, it is your responsibility to make arrangements to have your dish moved to an appropriate location immediately. We certainly hope to avoid any hard feelings over this issue, but your Rich Field Homeowners Association Board will take whatever steps are necessary to ensure compliance.

If you have any questions, please email us at info@richfield.ws. Also, if your neighbor did not get this email, please share it with him BEFORE he puts up that dish!

Thanks very much,
Your Rich Field Homeowners Board
